The Squad

2020 - “The one that accidentally started it all…”

What began as a loosely organised golf trip quickly turned into the origin story of what we now know as Rebel Tour.

It was 2020 — peak COVID chaos. Borders were questionable, plans were fragile, and half the group was living life like it was a game of exposure roulette. A few of the original starters were ruled out early after brushing a little too closely with the vibrant nightlife of Manly Beach… and by “vibrant,” we mean highly contagious.

Despite the late withdrawals (and some frantic reshuffling), a committed crew made the journey south to Barnbougle Dunes — unknowingly stepping into what would become an annual tradition.

What followed was:

  • Questionable golf

  • Outstanding scenery

  • Aggressive banter

  • And a level of “hydration strategy” that would later become a cornerstone of the tour

There were no leaderboards. No legacy stats. No idea what this would become. Just a group of blokes trying to find fairways (unsuccessfully), survive the Tasmanian wind, and justify another round.

Somewhere between the first tee and the last drink, something clicked.

Rivalries were born. Stories were created. Standards were set (mostly low, occasionally heroic).

And while nobody realised it at the time…this was the beginning of something much bigger from COVID curveballs and Manly mishaps…to what would become years of unforgettable tours, laughs, and boozy adventures.

Rebel Tour wasn’t planned. It just happened. And it started here.

2021 - The first official tour… and things escalated quickly”

Fresh out of lockdown and armed with questionable golf swings and even worse decision-making, Rebel Tour 2021 marked the first official tour — and the moment this whole thing became serious… sort of.

Set in the picturesque vineyards of the Hunter Valley, you’d think the group would lean into wine tasting, cheese boards, and refined behaviour.

You’d be wrong. Instead, 16 players arrived ready for:

  • Competitive golf

  • Aggressive team rivalry

  • And a strict diet of beer and brandy (because… hydration matters)

The Teams Were Born

  • 🦘 The Wallabies

  • 🐃 The Wildebeest

Two teams. One goal. Absolute dominance. What followed was less “gentleman’s golf trip” and more:

  • 👉 tribal warfare with scorecards

  • 🏌️ The Golf (Allegedly)

Somewhere in between drinks, belts, and banter… golf was played. Drives were launched (occasionally forward) Putts were missed (consistently) Rules were… interpreted creatively

But none of that really mattered. Despite being in one of Australia’s best wine regions…not a single person leaned into the “wine” part. Instead:

  • Beer flowed freely

  • Brandy made unexpected appearances

  • And at some point… belts became part of the entertainment

To this day, no one can fully explain how or why — but it’s now considered foundational Rebel Tour behaviour.

🏆 The First Champions Emerging from the chaos:

👉 Captain Rouan and the Wildebeest (claimed the first official Rebel Tour victory.)

Legacy of 2021 This was the tour that defined everything:

  • Teams

  • Rivalries

  • Traditions

  • And the clear understanding that things could (and would) get out of hand

From vineyards to belt fights…from lockdown recovery to full-blown competition…

👉 Rebel Tour 2021 wasn’t just a trip — it set the tone for everything that followed.

2022 - Central Coast

Nothing sunny about this trip,
